Search Continues for Man Electrocuted in Nan River

A man died after being electrocuted by a hanging high-voltage cable while attempting to secure a runaway raft to a bridge over the Nan River in Uttaradit's Pichai district. The victim had been trying to tie the fast-moving raft when he accidentally contacted the live wire, causing a fatal shock that sent him plunging into the river. Eyewitnesses saw sparks fly across his body before he disappeared beneath the strong currents. Rescue teams managed to recover the drifting raft downstream but have yet to locate the man's body. Authorities are investigating the hazardous cable placement while urging public caution around waterways during flood season.

Sunset to Align at Buri Ram's Prasat Phanom Rung Temple

The Tourism Authority of Thailand is inviting visitors to Buri Ram from October 5-7 to witness the annual celestial phenomenon where the sunset aligns perfectly through all 15 doorways of the ancient Prasat Phanom Rung temple. This spectacular event, visible from 5:55 PM, showcases the advanced astronomical knowledge of the temple's Khmer builders who designed it as a representation of Mount Kailash. Viewing spaces are available from 5:30 PM with entry fees of 20 baht for Thais and 200 baht for foreigners, though Thai seniors enter free. The temple's precise alignment allows this solar phenomenon to occur only four times annually, creating a sacred union of architecture and celestial movement. However, the TAT cautions that visibility depends entirely on clear weather conditions, as clouds could obscure the dramatic sunset.
